Unstoppable

“Together, hand in hand, with our matches and our necklaces, we shall liberate this country.” Words of a woman on a mission this quote perfectly describes the great Winnie Madikizela- Mandela. At times viewed as radical there stood a woman against the Apartheid and fought for the empowerment of women. Her resolve for the betterment of South Africa and the fight for equality were communicated through her actions by making the impossible…possible not only by graduating from a university which was very rare for black women during that time but also being the first black medical social worker at Johannesburg’s Baragwanath Hospital she showed what can be achieved by sheer determination. But she didn’t stop there by also becoming a prominent figure in politics she set a legacy beside her late husband being dubbed “ The Mother of the Nation” despite negative road block and controversy she stayed the course creating her own positives to change a country.
